Trains Resume Around Den Bosch After Vught Fault as SchiedamDelft Line to Close for Repair

Passengers delayed more than an hour qualify for a full fare refund under NS rules.

Overview

  • Rail traffic to and from Den Bosch returned to normal around 17:00 after a faulty overhead-line connection on a temporary track at Vught halted services for hours.
  • ProRail’s internal log cites cascading issues during the Vught works, including failed tests, inability to deploy replacement buses and concerns about derusting operations that prolonged the outage.
  • The track between Schiedam and Delft will close from Tuesday 23:00 until about Thursday 11:00 for a complex fix to a broken long rail on the Poldervaartbrug that requires cutting, replacement and curing time.
  • During the closure, NS advises traveling between Rotterdam and The Hague via Gouda or using RandstadRail, expects about 45 minutes of extra travel time and will provide limited buses.
  • NS says travelers delayed over 60 minutes can claim a full fare refund with a valid ticket, with capped compensation for certain student cards and conditions that vary by subscription.
