Overview

• An FIR was filed on September 10 under BNS sections 64(2)(e), 74, 75, 76 and 79 following a complaint by the survivor’s sister, a Spanish national.
• The alleged assault occurred on August 31 around 10 pm in the ICU of Healthway Hospital in Old Goa, where the woman was admitted for a neurological disorder.
• Goa Police say 28-year-old Vrushab Doshi left the state after the incident and was tracked to the Solapur–Sangli area in Maharashtra before being arrested and remanded to custody.
• The complaint asserts the doctor lifted the patient’s gown, groped her and touched her private parts under the pretext of a neurological sensitivity test after directing a nurse to leave.
• Healthway Hospital says the trainee has been suspended from duties and that the survivor continues treatment, with the facility pledging full support as the investigation proceeds.
