Train Service Fully Restored at Chais Station After Fuel Tanker Derailment

Rail traffic resumed through Chais station after repairs to infrastructure damaged by a fuel spill.

  • Kuibyshev Railway reported that as of 11:51 a.m. Moscow time, trains are running on both tracks at Chais station in normal mode.
  • Earlier, passenger trains were moving in a reverse pattern with a 15 km/h limit after crews repaired Track No. 2 and restored power.
  • The December 13 incident involved a shunting locomotive colliding with a freight train, derailing two locomotives and 23 tank cars carrying fuel oil.
  • Contaminated soil was removed from the first track area, with pollution preliminarily assessed at 750 square meters and disposal planned before the New Year followed by land reclamation in spring 2026.
  • A criminal case has been opened on suspected violations of transport safety rules.
