  • The May 26 crash occurred at 11:23 AM local time in St. Ruprecht an der Raab when a 36-year-old Nepalese truck driver ran a red signal and entered the unguarded railway crossing.
  • The impact ruptured the truck’s fuel tank and ignited a fire that engulfed both the S-Bahn train and the truck.
  • The truck driver was severely injured and airlifted to hospital and at least three passengers along with the train driver sustained minor injuries.
  • Nearby S-Bahn services were halted and the B64 road was closed for several hours while emergency crews cleared the scene.
  • Authorities have confirmed plans to install safety barriers at the hazardous crossing in November 2025 to prevent future accidents.
