Overview
- Central Delhi saw regulated movement from about 5 am to 2 pm for the Ministry of Culture’s Vande Mataram 150-year celebration at Indira Gandhi Stadium, with parking bans on roads including Velodrome, Secretariat, IP and Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg.
- The padayatra led by Dhirendra Krishna Shastri began 11 am from Adhya Katyayani Mandir in Chhattarpur toward Vrindavan, triggering closures on SSN Marg between Chhattarpur Y-point and Dera More and diversions across the Mehrauli area.
- Police put stadium attendance at roughly 11,000 and reported more than 30,000 participants in the foot march, following advisories that had projected a larger turnout.
- Commuters reported long tailbacks across Mehrauli–Gurugram Road, Aurobindo Marg, Ring Road stretches, Mathura Road, Vikas Marg and the ITO–Daryaganj corridor during morning and evening peaks.
- About 200 traffic personnel were deployed with priority access for emergency vehicles and towing for illegal parking, even as social media posts documented extensive gridlock across south and central Delhi.
