Overview
- At 2:47 p.m. on July 20, the Harvard Fire Protection District was dispatched to a tractor that had overturned in a creek at Bunker Hill and Island roads in unincorporated Harvard, Illinois
- Family members located the driver after nearly three hours with only his head visible above water, underscoring the prolonged entrapment
- Responders traversed more than a mile of rugged, unpaved terrain by pickup truck and all-wheel-drive utility vehicle to bring chains and other rescue equipment to the site
- Within 25 minutes of arrival, crews used chains and a heavy-duty front loader to lift the overturned tractor and free the man
- The elderly driver was flown by University of Wisconsin Health Med Flight to OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition
