Toyota Teases 2026 GR010 Aero Overhaul, Paul Ricard Debut Set for Next Week

The upgrade targets higher efficiency and tyre use after a BoP-constrained 2025, using at least one Evo joker and Windshear homologation to reset Toyota’s Le Mans challenge.

Overview

  • Toyota released teaser images of its evolved GR010 Hybrid showing a reworked front end, new headlight signature and revised rear wing, with the first on-track run set for Oct. 8–9 at Circuit Paul Ricard.
  • Vice-chairman Kazuki Nakajima said the package is aero-led and will use at least one Evo joker, with related powertrain and control-system changes aimed at improving tyre exploitation.
  • Homologation and validation work is underway at the full-scale Windshear windtunnel in North Carolina following the shift away from the Sauber facility.
  • The refresh follows a difficult 2025 season with no podiums so far and the GR010 often assigned near-maximum weight and near-minimum power under Balance of Performance.
  • Toyota has framed the update around reclaiming Le Mans-winning pace in 2026, with additional testing planned, including a December session at Lusail ahead of the season-opening Qatar round.
