Toyota, Lexus and Subaru Recall 1.02 Million U.S. Vehicles for Rear-Camera Software Fault

Dealers will reprogram the parking-assist software at no cost, with owner notices slated to begin by mid-December.

Overview

  • NHTSA says a software error in vehicles with Panoramic View Monitor systems can freeze or blank the rearview image when reversing, increasing crash risk.
  • The remedy is a dealer-installed update to the Parking Assist ECU software, which is not available via over-the-air update and will be provided free of charge.
  • The U.S. campaign spans 2022–2026 Toyota and Lexus models and the Subaru Solterra, covering more than 100 model and trim combinations.
  • Related actions include about 99,178 vehicles in Canada and voluntary recalls in India covering 4,863 Toyota units and 1,588 Lexus vehicles, with Lexus India reporting no incidents there.
  • U.S. owners will receive mailed notifications by December 16; Toyota lists recall numbers 25TB13 and 25LB06, and Subaru’s Solterra is covered under WRE25.
