Toyota Gazoo Racing Unveils GR GT V8 Hybrid, GR GT3 Racer and Lexus LFA EV Concept

Development continues through 2026 toward a 2027 rollout.

Overview

  • The GR GT prototype pairs an all-new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with modest hybrid assist for a targeted 641–650 hp and about 627 lb-ft.
  • A new all-aluminum chassis with carbon-reinforced panels, double-wishbone suspension and rear transaxle packaging targets a 45:55 weight distribution.
  • Hybrid hardware sits in the transaxle with an electric motor between the driveshaft and 8-speed gearbox and a battery mounted above the transaxle.
  • The GR GT3, built to FIA GT3 specification and using the same V8 without hybridization, will be sold to customer teams with factory support rather than run as a works entry.
  • Lexus presented an LFA Concept as a battery-electric halo sharing the GR GT architecture, with final specifications and production timing unconfirmed.
