Toyota Begins Sales of e‑Palette Electric People‑Mover in Japan

Trials at Toyota sites pave the path to Level 4 versions planned for fiscal 2027.

  • The purpose‑built battery‑electric e‑Palette is now on sale in Japan with a starting price of ¥29,000,000.
  • Default configuration accommodates up to 17 people and pairs a 72.82 kWh battery with a 150 kW motor for roughly 250 km WLTC range and an 80 km/h top speed.
  • The vehicle launches with Level 2 driver assistance and is engineered for automated operation via an ADK compatible with Toyota’s VCI plus a steer‑by‑wire system.
  • Toyota plans demonstrations around TOYOTA ARENA TOKYO and Woven City and will run automated‑driving trials with dealerships, municipalities and automation partners.
  • Designed as a configurable PBV, it offers a low floor, wide sliding doors and an electric ramp, supports 90 kW DC fast charging to 80% in about 40 minutes, provides V2L power, and may qualify for subsidies reported to significantly reduce the effective purchase cost.
