Toyota Allocates $912 Million Across Five U.S. Plants To Boost Hybrids, Add 252 Jobs

The spending advances Toyota's up-to-$10 billion U.S. pledge by prioritizing hybrid powertrains to meet rising demand.

  • Toyota detailed state-by-state allocations for West Virginia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee and Missouri, with new hybrid manufacturing lines scheduled to come online in 2027–2028 as electrified models approach half of its U.S. sales.
  • The Blue Springs, Mississippi, plant will add Corolla Hybrid assembly with a $125 million retooling, marking the first U.S.-built electrified Corollas.
  • The Buffalo, West Virginia, facility will receive $453 million to expand assembly of four-cylinder hybrid-compatible engines, sixth-generation hybrid transaxles and rear motor stators, adding 80 jobs starting in 2027.
  • Toyota’s Georgetown, Kentucky, plant will get $204.4 million for an all-new machining line for four-cylinder hybrid-compatible engines, creating 82 jobs with production beginning in 2027.
  • Casting investments include $71.4 million in Jackson, Tennessee, for three new lines and 33 jobs and $57.1 million in Troy, Missouri, for a new cylinder head line and 57 jobs, increasing component capacity substantially.
