Overview

  • At 11:30 a.m. on July 20 crews used 800 kilograms of explosives to bring down the 95-meter, 28-story Tour Kennedy in just seven seconds.
  • A 200-meter safety perimeter secured the site while approximately 900 residents were evacuated without injuries.
  • The broader renewal scheme includes €8.9 million for the demolition phase and aims to reduce social housing concentration from 88% to 55%.
  • Over the next two months teams will clear 19,000 tonnes of rubble to be crushed and repurposed for roadworks.
  • Plans call for more than 300 new homes alongside a greenway to diversify housing and improve connectivity in the district.
