Organizers, backed by Toulouse Métropole’s logistics, aim to draw wide participation to curb litter.

Overview

  • The local rollout starts Thursday in Saint-Alban, with the main volunteer cleanups set for Saturday across Toulouse and 30 communes and youth activities continuing through Sunday, Sept. 21.
  • Toulouse Métropole will supply sacks, tongs and vests and manage adapted sorting and collection, while participants are asked to bring their own gloves.
  • This year the municipality is supporting 22 structures, with 17 actions planned in leisure centers alongside school and children’s council involvement.
  • Educational stands on Saturday will explain a waste item’s life cycle to encourage changes in consumption and disposal habits from an early age.
  • Organizers cite 2024 as a benchmark with 195 cleanups, 5,523 participants and about 12,918 kg collected, including 362,256 cigarette butts, with participation up and volumes slightly down.
