Bentancur underwent hospital tests and has been cleared of any serious complications, with manager Ange Postecoglou confirming he is now back home and feeling well.
The 27-year-old will miss at least two weeks, including Tottenham's FA Cup third-round match against Tamworth and Premier League games against Arsenal and Everton.
Bentancur, who recently returned from a seven-game suspension, could be available for Tottenham's Europa League match against Hoffenheim on January 23.
