Overview
- Tory Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, was stabbed 14 times by another inmate at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi on May 12, 2025.
- The attack caused collapsed lungs and multiple wounds to his back, torso, head, and face, but Lanez is now breathing on his own and in stable condition at a Bakersfield hospital.
- Prison staff provided immediate medical aid before transferring Lanez to an outside medical facility for further treatment.
- The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and the Kern County District Attorney’s Office have launched an investigation into the incident, with the attacker placed in restricted housing.
- Lanez is serving a 10-year sentence for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion and is eligible for parole in 2029. He recently received a protective order against him through 2030 for alleged harassment of Megan from prison.
