Tory Bruno Named President of Blue Origin’s New National Security Group

The former ULA chief brings Pentagon-launch experience to a push for more defense and intelligence business.

Overview

  • Blue Origin said Bruno will report to CEO Dave Limp and lead a newly created unit focused on national security customers.
  • The appointment comes four days after his departure from ULA, where Lockheed Martin and Boeing named John Elbon interim CEO.
  • Blue Origin supplies ULA’s Vulcan rocket with BE-4 engines, reflecting a supplier relationship between companies that also compete for launches.
  • At ULA, Bruno oversaw development of the BE-4–powered Vulcan, which is certified for national security missions, while Blue Origin’s New Glenn is still working toward certification.
  • Blue Origin holds an initial Space Force award to compete for NSSL Phase 3 Lane 2 launches, with New Glenn required to complete qualification flights before full certification.
