Overview
- Torrent Power will receive up to 0.27 MMTPA of LNG under a Sale and Purchase Agreement that runs for 10 years from 2027.
- The company plans to allocate supplies to its 2,730 MW combined-cycle gas plants to meet peak demand and balance variable renewables.
- Part of the volume will serve Torrent Gas Ltd’s city gas networks supporting households, commercial and industrial users, and CNG vehicles.
- Torrent said softer LNG prices have prompted it to evaluate additional medium- and long-term procurement to diversify its supply portfolio.
- JERA, described as Japan’s largest power generator and a leading LNG player, is the counterparty to the contract.
