Torrent Power Profit Jumps, Tata Power Edges Lower in Q2 as Renewable Push Intensifies

  • Torrent Power reported consolidated Q2 FY26 net profit of Rs 741.55 crore, up nearly 50% year-on-year, with total income rising to Rs 7,953.91 crore.
  • Revenue from Torrent’s generation business increased to Rs 2,420.92 crore, while the company cited lower finance costs and higher merchant and LNG-linked sales as key drivers, partly offset by higher depreciation from new capex.
  • Tata Power posted consolidated profit attributable to owners of Rs 919.44 crore, down 0.76% year-on-year, with revenue from operations slipping 0.97% to Rs 15,544.91 crore.
  • Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd expanded its operational utility-scale portfolio to 5.7 GW and commissioned 293 MW in the quarter, while the rooftop segment added 370 MWp and grew revenue 158% to Rs 1,133 crore.
  • TPREL announced an 838 MW wind-turbine supply agreement with Suzlon and secured key EPC and storage awards, including a 100 MW/200 MWh BESS for Tata Power Distribution, NTPC Khavda’s 300 MW BoS project, and a 30 MW/120 MWh BESPA with NHPC for Kerala.
