Overview
- Toronto’s mobility plan, released Thursday, lays out a transit-first approach with no public parking near BMO Field, geofenced ride-hail zones, and targeted road closures around stadium and fan sites.
- GO Transit will run trains every 15 minutes on the Lakeshore lines from June 10 to July 5, while the TTC adds more frequent 504, 509 and 511 streetcars, late-night service, match-day shuttles, and on-the-ground staff to move crowds.
- Liberty Village will be restricted to local traffic from five hours before kickoff to three hours after matches, Lake Shore Boulevard West and Dufferin Street will close near the venue during those windows, and Fort York Boulevard will go pedestrian-only for the tournament.
- Toronto expects about 300,000 visitors overall, with 45,000 fans per match and up to 20,000 a day at the Fan Festival, and ride-hail drop-off points will shift to Lamport Stadium, Strachan and Douro, and Front and Bathurst.
- The plan still needs municipal approval, with a subcommittee review next week, an Executive Committee meeting on April 15, and City Council debate April 22–24, as officials flag rail and station bottlenecks and overlapping Blue Jays home games as key stress tests.
