The Toronto Tempo will be the WNBA's 14th team and the first franchise based outside the United States, starting play in 2026.
The team name, chosen from over 10,000 fan submissions, reflects the rhythm of basketball and the energy of Toronto and Canada.
The Tempo's logo features a forward-leaning 'T' with six lines symbolizing the five players on the court and the fans as the 'sixth player.'
The name and logo reveal were expedited after a premature leak on the WNBA’s website earlier this week.
The team will play at Toronto’s Coca-Cola Coliseum and is owned by Kilmer Sports Ventures, which also owns other major Toronto sports franchises.
