Overview

  • Bocheng Mei, a 26-year-old Toronto software professional, won the $60 million Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball jackpot in the May 7 draw thanks to an OLG.ca “Never Miss A Draw” subscription.
  • He missed the automated email notification but learned of his win after an Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation representative called and prompted him to check his online account.
  • Mei verified the call’s authenticity by googling the number before discovering his winnings and immediately joined a work meeting in disbelief.
  • OLG officially confirmed his identity and win in late July, noting that this was the largest Gold Ball jackpot to date.
  • Mei says he will pursue further education, travel to see the Aurora Borealis and use his winnings to purchase a Toronto home while securing his parents’ retirement.
