- Exposure may have occurred at Earls Kitchen + Bar on July 11, 12, 15 and 16 during evening service, Toronto Public Health said
- Hepatitis A is spread through the fecal-oral route via contaminated food or surfaces and cannot be transmitted by coughing or sneezing
- Health officials say the vaccine is most effective within 14 days of exposure and is being offered free at Metro Hall on Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- There is no ongoing risk at the restaurant and it is considered safe to dine there now
- Symptoms can appear 15 to 50 days after infection and include fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, dark urine and jaundice, and older adults or people with liver disease face higher hospitalization risk
