Toronto has banned tobogganing on 45 hills around the city, citing safety concerns such as trees, stumps, rocks, rivers, or roads.
The city has designated 27 hills as tobogganing-approved and has set up a website for residents to find these locations.
Toronto City Councilman Brad Bradford opposes the ban, calling it 'embarrassing' and stating that tobogganing is part of the Canadian experience.
Despite the ban, some residents, including Bradford, plan to continue tobogganing in the banned areas.
The city's toboggan hill inspection program, established in 2017, regularly inspects local hills for safety.
