Overview

  • Tordillos reported $360,734 in donations from June 8 to 23 compared with Chavez-Lopez’s $261,028 ahead of polls opening on June 24.
  • He has self-financed $210,000 of his total contributions, including a $20,000 loan to his own campaign committee.
  • In the final week, PAC endorsements for Tordillos surged with backing from the Bay Area Municipal Elections Committee, San Jose Police Officers Association and a new group called Californians Working Together to Support Tordillos that spent over $39,000.
  • Chavez-Lopez, who led the April primary with 29% of the vote, has received more than $500,000 in support from the South Bay Labor Council and faced criticism for corporate ties including PG&E.
  • The runoff will fill the seat left vacant by Omar Torres and could shift the City Council balance on Mayor Mahan’s housing and homelessness agenda.
