Tor Tre Teste Assault: 26-Year-Old Detained at Termini After Photo ID and Confession

A second woman has now identified the same man in a separate attack reported two days later.

Overview

  • Carabinieri tracked the suspect from the park through the Quarticciolo area toward Roma Termini using CCTV, cell data and distinctive clothing, then detained him outside the station.
  • The victim in her 60s identified the detained 26-year-old Gambian in a photographic lineup, and he told investigators he acted under the influence of crack purchased shortly before the assault.
  • Investigators are examining biological traces reportedly recovered from the victim’s clothing and reconstructing the path of the phone stolen during the attack, which was switched off soon after.
  • A 44-year-old separately reported a sexual assault around 4 a.m. on August 26 near via Prenestina and also picked out the same man in a photo identification; prosecutors have recorded her complaint.
  • Judicial validation of the detention is still pending as local officials renew calls for stronger security in the Tor Tre Teste area and along key transit routes.
