Topeka Police Identify Homicide Victim, Release Person of Interest Image

Investigators are seeking community help to identify a person in surveillance footage following the reclassification of the July 15 death as a homicide.

Overview

  • On July 15 at around 6:45 p.m., patrol officers found 72-year-old Terry Keller deceased in a vehicle parked near the Central Park Community Center on Southwest Clay Street.
  • Assistant Chief Michael Cross announced on July 16 that the case has been upgraded from a suspicious death to Topeka’s tenth homicide of the year.
  • A surveillance camera image of a person of interest walking near the community center was released to assist with identification efforts.
  • No arrests have been made and the cause of Keller’s death has not been disclosed as investigators continue collecting evidence.
