Semifinal Lineup Announced as Fireball and Stinger Also Advance; Tournament Features $50M Prize, Largest in Saudi-Funded, PGA Tour-Rival League

  • Despite winning their singles matches, Brooks Koepka and Cameron Smith saw their teams, Smash GC and Ripper GC respectively, lose in head-to-head matches and get eliminated from the 2023 LIV Golf Team Championship.
  • Phil Mickelson's HyFlyers team ousted Koepka's Smash GC, while Martin Kaymer's Cleeks eliminated Smith-led Ripper GC in the competition's first round at Trump National Doral Miami.
  • The teams of Sergio Garcia's Fireballs GC, and Louis Oosthuizen's Stinger GC also advanced to the semifinals by winning their respective matches against Majesticks GC and Iron Heads.
  • Meanwhile, the defending champion 4Aces team led by Dustin Johnson and other top teams from the regular season including Crushers, Torque, and RangeGoats received first-round byes and entered directly into the semifinals.
  • Notably, the LIV Golf Team Championship has a $50 million prize purse, the largest in any event in the Saudi-funded, PGA Tour-rival league. The winning team will receive $14 million.
