Daria Kasatkina, the number one seed, advanced to the quarterfinals at the Palermo Open with a straight sets win.
Kasatkina will face fifth seed Jasmine Paolini in the quarterfinals.
Mayar Sherif also reached the quarters after defeating a lucky loser.
Sherif will play Camila Osorio, who won a tough three-set match, in the next round.
Other quarterfinal matches include Zheng vs. Navarro and Sorribes Tormo vs. Burel.
