Top-Ranked QB Transfer Darian Mensah Commits to Duke

The former Tulane standout cites Duke's academics and team culture in his decision to join the Blue Devils with three years of eligibility remaining.

Darian Mensah, the highest-rated player in ESPN's transfer portal rankings, announced his decision to transfer to Duke University on Wednesday.
Mensah, a redshirt freshman quarterback, led Tulane to the AAC title game this season, throwing for 2,723 yards, 22 touchdowns, and completing 65.9% of his passes.
He will replace outgoing Duke quarterback Maalik Murphy, who also entered the transfer portal after leading the Blue Devils to a 9-3 record this season.
Mensah highlighted the prestige of a Duke education and the strong impression made by head coach Manny Diaz as key factors in his decision.
Duke will face Ole Miss in the Gator Bowl on January 2, though Mensah will not be eligible to participate in the game.
