Joseph Kosinski, who directed 'Top Gun: Maverick', is expected to return for the third installment.
Ehren Kruger, co-writer of 'Top Gun: Maverick', is currently working on the script for 'Top Gun 3'.
The release date for 'Top Gun 3' is yet to be determined, as Tom Cruise is currently working on the eighth installment of the 'Mission: Impossible' franchise, which is not slated for release until May 2025.
