Tony Earls Indicted for Murder in 2022 Shooting of Arlene Alvarez

Nearly two years after a grand jury declined to indict him, Tony Earls faces murder charges, following new evidence and a re-examination of the case.

Tony Earls, initially charged with aggravated assault in 2022, has been indicted for murder in the shooting death of 9-year-old Arlene Alvarez.
The new indictment comes after a special prosecutor and an FBI firearms expert re-analyzed the case, leading to a different grand jury decision.
Earls allegedly fired at a vehicle mistakenly believing the robber had entered it, tragically killing Alvarez who was inside.
The incident occurred during a robbery at a Houston ATM where Earls and his wife were victims.
If convicted, Earls could face a prison sentence ranging from 5 years to life.
