Tonk Police Seize 150 Kg Ammonium Nitrate on New Year’s Eve, Arrest Two

Investigators are tracing the supply chain after an intelligence-led stop on the TonkJaipur highway.

Overview

  • DST officers intercepted a Maruti Ciaz within Baroni police station limits during a special vehicle-checking drive based on specific intelligence.
  • Officers recovered ammonium nitrate concealed in urea sacks along with 200 explosive cartridges and roughly 1,100 metres of safety fuse or electric wire.
  • The arrested men were identified as Surendra Patwa and Surendra Mochi of Bundi district, and the vehicle was impounded.
  • Police said the consignment was being moved from Bundi to Tonk for supply, with questioning underway and intelligence agencies alerted.
  • The recovery drew added scrutiny given the recent Red Fort bombing in Delhi and large explosives seizures in Faridabad in November.
