Two companies, Ray & Mascari Inc. and Williams Farms Repack LLC, issued recalls after potential contamination was flagged by upstream suppliers, with no reported illnesses so far.

Overview

  • Ray & Mascari Inc. recalled its 4-Count Vine Ripe Tomatoes sold in clamshell containers across 11 states, including Illinois, New York, and Michigan.
  • Williams Farms Repack LLC issued a separate recall for tomatoes distributed to wholesalers in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
  • Both recalls stemmed from notifications by Hanshaw & Capling Farms and Southeast Tomato Distributors regarding possible Salmonella contamination at the suppliers’ facilities.
  • The FDA has urged consumers to discard or return the affected products and has confirmed no illnesses have been reported to date.
  • Salmonella poses significant health risks, particularly to vulnerable populations such as young children, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals.
