Tom Troupe, Veteran Stage and Screen Actor, Dies at 97

His family has requested charitable donations in his honor following his natural-causes death five days after his 97th birthday.

Overview

  • He died of natural causes on July 20, 2025, at his Beverly Hills home, five days after celebrating his 97th birthday.
  • A Bronze Star recipient from the Korean War, Troupe made his Broadway debut in 1957 after training under Uta Hagen at the Herbert Berghof Studio.
  • After relocating to Los Angeles in 1958, he built a six-decade career with guest appearances in more than 75 television series and roles in films such as Kelly’s Heroes and My Own Private Idaho.
  • He co-founded The Faculty acting school in Los Angeles and co-wrote and performed in one-man theatrical projects, including The Diary of a Madman.
  • He is survived by his son, Christopher, daughter-in-law Becky Coulter, granddaughter Ashley Troupe and several nieces and nephews.
