Tom McKibbin Joins Jon Rahm's LIV Golf Team, Leaving PGA Tour Behind

The 22-year-old Northern Irish golfer turned down Rory McIlroy’s advice and forfeited his PGA Tour card to join LIV Golf's Legion XIII.

Tom McKibbin, ranked No. 106 in the world, has joined Jon Rahm's Legion XIII team in the Saudi-backed LIV Golf League.
McKibbin’s decision to join LIV Golf means forfeiting his PGA Tour card, which he earned through the DP World Tour’s Race to Dubai rankings last year.
Rory McIlroy, McKibbin’s mentor and fellow Northern Irishman, advised against the move, citing potential sacrifices like access to majors and Ryder Cup opportunities.
McKibbin, who grew up playing at the same golf club as McIlroy, will play alongside Jon Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton, and Caleb Surratt in the upcoming LIV Golf season starting February 6 in Saudi Arabia.
McKibbin turned professional in 2021 and has one European Tour victory, the 2023 Porsche European Open, with a notable runner-up finish in last year’s Italian Open.
