Tom Llamas Named New Anchor of 'NBC Nightly News'

The veteran journalist will succeed Lester Holt this summer, becoming the first Latino to anchor the weeknight broadcast.

Tom Llamas, 45, will take over as anchor and managing editor of 'NBC Nightly News' this summer, following Lester Holt’s decade-long tenure.
Llamas will continue hosting 'Top Story with Tom Llamas,' a primetime streaming newscast on NBC News NOW, alongside his new role.
This appointment marks a historic milestone as Llamas becomes the first Latino journalist to anchor the weeknight edition of the program.
Llamas has an extensive career in journalism, including roles at ABC News and NBC, where he has served as a senior national correspondent since 2021.
Holt will remain with NBC News in a full-time role at 'Dateline,' which he has hosted since 2011.
