Tom Brady, former New England Patriots quarterback, revealed in a New Year's Eve Instagram post that he had planned to unretire in 2023, but a surprise retirement party thrown by his friends 'forced his hand'.
Brady had retired in 2023 after three seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, during which he threw for 4,694 yards and 25 touchdowns in his final season.
Despite his retirement, Brady had sought part ownership with the Las Vegas Raiders, stirring up comeback rumors.
However, Brady is set to begin his broadcasting career with FOX in the fall of 2024, having agreed to a 10-year, $375 million deal in 2022.
Broadcasting veteran Bob Costas has expressed doubts about Brady's suitability for game broadcasting, suggesting he would be a better fit in the studio.
