Tom Allen Joins Penn State as New Defensive Coordinator

Former Indiana Coach to Nittany Lions' Defense, Replacing Manny Diaz

Tom Allen, former Indiana coach, has been officially hired as the new defensive coordinator for Penn State, replacing Manny Diaz who left for Duke.
Allen, who was fired by Indiana last month, led the Hoosiers to bowl games in 2016, 2019, and 2020, but had a disappointing 3-9 record this season.
Despite recent struggles, Allen's experience as a head coach and defensive play caller is expected to bring value to Penn State, complementing their already established aggressive defense.
Allen's tenure at Indiana saw highs and lows, with a No. 12 ranking in the final AP Top 25 poll in 2020, but a last-place finish in 2023.
Penn State, currently ranked No. 10, is set to face No. 11 Ole Miss in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on December 30.
