Overview
- The Cessna Citation (registration XA-PRO) was flying from Acapulco to Toluca when it crashed near San Mateo Atenco shortly after 12:30 p.m. local time.
- The jet appeared to aim for a soccer field but struck the metal roof of a nearby warehouse, causing a large fire; no injuries on the ground were reported.
- Roughly 130 people were evacuated because the warehouse held fuel and gas tanks, according to state officials.
- Federal agencies AFAC, DAAIA and SENEAM, along with the Attorney General's Office, have opened an investigation into the cause.
- Officials said the dead include three children—identified as Natalia, Raúl and Ximena—and named the pilot Juan Carlos Olivares, co-pilot Walding Sánchez Manzano and five adult passengers.
