Toledo Man Charged With Disability Hate Crime After Wheelchair Assault

Police hate crimes unit findings of prejudice as motive have led to upgraded charges including hate crime with an offense against moral integrity.

  • On July 30 in Toledo, a 29-year-old man allegedly mocked a wheelchair user, threw him to the pavement and punched him repeatedly in the head.
  • Witnesses dialed 091 to report the attack, and police detained the suspect after he refused to identify himself and assaulted officers at the scene.
