- The main competition features world premieres from Rithy Panh, Amos Gitai, Chong Keat Aun and Zhang Lu, with Fan Bingbing headlining Chong’s Mother Bhumi.
- Gala screenings include Peter Ho-sun Chan’s She Has No Name starring Zhang Ziyi, Ari Aster’s Eddington, Scott Cooper’s Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere and HIKARI’s Rental Family.
- Previously set showcase slots are Junji Sakamoto’s Climbing for Life as opener, Yoji Yamada’s Tokyo Taxi as centerpiece and Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet as the closing film.
- The competition jury is led by Carlo Chatrian with Gwei Lun-Mei, Matthieu Laclau, Saitoh Takumi and Vivian Qu, with awards to be presented on Nov. 5.
- TIFF launches the Asian Students’ Film Conference to screen 15 school-recommended shorts backed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, alongside TIFFCOM’s industry market running Oct. 29–31.
