  • The boy was riding a balance bike and had ridden ahead of his father while they crossed under a green pedestrian signal.
  • An off-duty police officer and other bystanders provided first aid before the child was transported to the Royal Children's Hospital.
  • The 29-year-old Clyde man driving the westbound white van was arrested at the scene and later released pending further enquiries.
  • The Major Collision Investigation Unit is examining speed, impairment and driver attention and is appealing for dashcam or CCTV submissions through Crime Stoppers.
