The reality TV stars, currently serving prison sentences for bank fraud and tax evasion, alleged misconduct in a 2019 investigation against them.
- Reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley have been awarded a $1 million settlement from the state of Georgia in a lawsuit alleging misconduct in a 2019 investigation against them.
- The lawsuit was filed against Joshua Waites, the former Director of Special Investigations of the state’s Department of Revenue, whom the Chrisleys accused of 'specifically targeting' their family in a state tax evasion charge.
- Despite being cleared of the state tax evasion charge, the Chrisleys were indicted by a federal grand jury in 2019 for bank and wire fraud, tax evasion, and conspiracy.
- They began serving their respective prison sentences in January 2023, with Todd due for release in 2033 and Julie in 2028.
- The Chrisleys' appeal of their criminal convictions will be heard by the federal appeals court in Atlanta in April 2024.
