Overview
- In a Nov. 7 letter, TMC leader Aroop Biswas asked West Bengal’s CEO to reconcile CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s Oct. 27 comment allowing use of an uncle’s details with current SIR instructions.
- The party says written manuals and the BLO software limit linkage to parents or grandparents, preventing data entry for many eligible voters.
- TMC demanded formal updates to both the instruction manual and the BLO interface to permit mapping through uncles and other blood relatives.
- Separately, TMC’s Abhishek Banerjee complained that Kulpi is using 2003 rolls instead of the legally mandated 2002 SIR rolls and flagged missing names from the 2002 hardcopy.
- The SIR drive is ongoing with more than 3.04 crore enumeration forms distributed by 8 p.m. Friday, and TMC has launched Banglar Vote Raksha with over 5,000 assistance camps to help citizens complete forms.
