TMC Councillor Babla Sarkar Fatally Shot in Malda by Unidentified Assailants

The close associate of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was killed in a brazen daylight attack, prompting calls for swift justice.

Dulal Sarkar, also known as Babla Sarkar, a TMC councillor from Malda's English Bazar Municipality, was shot dead by bike-borne assailants on Thursday morning.
The attack occurred in the busy Jhaljhalia More area and was captured on CCTV, showing the assailants firing multiple shots at Sarkar before fleeing the scene.
Sarkar sustained critical head injuries and was rushed to Malda Medical College and Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed deep shock and sadness, describing Sarkar as a close associate and a dedicated party leader, and called for the culprits to be apprehended immediately.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident, with initial reports indicating that the attackers wore helmets to conceal their identities.
