Titans' special teams coordinator Craig Aukerman was fired by head coach Mike Vrabel following a game that saw the team's punter, Ryan Stonehouse, suffer a season-ending injury and a punt being blocked and returned for a touchdown.
Stonehouse, who set an NFL single-season record for gross yards per punt in his rookie year, will require season-ending surgery for his injured left leg.
Tom Quinn, previously a special teams assistant with the Titans, will take over Aukerman's duties for the remainder of the season.
Despite the Titans' 4-8 record, they have not been officially eliminated from the playoffs, but they are ahead of only New England (2-10) in the AFC standings.
