Overview

• In the initial phase, 200 auto-rickshaws received tamper-proof QR code stickers and A4 display boards listing driver and owner details.
• Passengers use mobile apps like Google Lens to scan codes for driver profiles, vehicle registration data and nearest police station contacts.
• The system allows riders to share trip details with family on WhatsApp, rate driver behaviour, lodge complaints and trigger SOS alerts.
• Traffic DSP Ramakrishna Chari said auto owners submitted Aadhaar, driving licence, vehicle documents and photos for verification before unique codes were issued.
• Officials plan to extend the digitalisation to all autorickshaws in Tirupati to curb overcharging, route diversions and other crimes targeting devotees and night-time travellers.
