Tirumala’s Sri Venkateswara Temple to Close Sept. 7–8 for Lunar Eclipse

TTD outlined cancellations with alternative food supply to guide pilgrims during eclipse protocols.

Overview

  • The temple will shut at 3:30 p.m. on September 7 and reopen at 3 a.m. on September 8, covering the 9:50 p.m.–1:31 a.m. lunar eclipse.
  • Regular darshan will resume at 6 a.m. on September 8 following Suprabatham, purification, and Ekantam rituals.
  • All Arjitha Sevas on September 7 are cancelled, including Unjal Seva, Arjitha Brahmotsavam, and Sahasra Deepalankara.
  • Annaprasadam centres will pause service from 3 p.m. on September 7 to 8:30 a.m. on September 8 at locations such as the main complex, VQC-2, PAC-2, and other listed sites.
  • TTD will distribute 30,000 Pulihora packets from 4:30 p.m. on September 7 at designated points, and it has asked devotees to plan visits accordingly.
