Tirumala Brahmotsavams Open With Dhwajarohanam, Garuda Flag Hoisted

The Garuda flag-hoisting signals the ritual start of nine days of vahana processions concluding Oct. 2.

Overview

  • TTD conducted the Dhwajarohanam between 5:43 p.m. and 6:15 p.m., hoisting the Garuda-emblazoned yellow flag to open the nine-day festival.
  • Vedic scholars chanted hymns to temple drums as the senior and junior pontiffs supervised the ceremony, followed by asthanam at Tirumalaraya Mandapam.
  • The processional deities, including Sri Malayappa Swamy and consorts, were taken in a golden palanquin through the four mada streets to begin the public observances.
  • Daily Vahana Sevas now proceed per schedule, with Garuda Vahanam on September 28, Swarna Rathotsavam on September 29, Rathotsavam on October 1, and Chakra Snanam on October 2.
  • Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu presented silken raiments to Sri Venkateswara Swamy on behalf of the state government.
