• Doug Kalitta’s dragster reportedly suffered a left‑front tire malfunction just past the stripe, crossed the center line and clipped Tony Stewart’s car at Maple Grove Raceway.
• NHRA’s official statement said Stewart’s dragster briefly went onto its side, returned to its wheels, struck the left guard wall, and came to a stop as Kalitta’s car veered back across before stopping.
• Both drivers were alert, exited without assistance, and were examined by NHRA medical staff at the track before being released.
